We will find a loophole and make a breakthrough: National Guard commander on counter-offensive

During the counter-offensive, the Ukrainian Defence Forces will find a weakness in the Russian troops and make a breakthrough “in some direction”.
This was stated by the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pivnenko, in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.
– “You will see, the time will come when we will make a breakthrough in some direction. And it’s not a fact that it will be where someone thinks it will be. We will find a loophole and go in, everything will be fine. And they will lose a lot of our territories,” he said.
Pivnenko explained that the most important thing in this offensive is the daily advance of the Ukrainian military, even by several hundred metres a day. “Every metre is difficult, in particular because of the enemy’s large-scale mining of the territories.
Therefore, we should not expect the same lightning-fast operation that took place in the Kharkiv region.
– If we are moving forward, this is already a result. Everyone remembers that operation in the Izium sector and thinks it will be the same. But no, it doesn’t happen that way. For us, every metre is a result,” said the National Guard commander.
Pivnenko added that the offensive is the most difficult military operation, which should be carried out by the best trained and equipped units. He called the offensive “the highest level of skill that exists”.
The National Guard commander reminded that Russia has large resources to wage war. At the same time, he is convinced that Ukrainian defenders will be able to reach the 1991 borders, but it will take time.
Since the start of the counter-offensive, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have liberated more than 204 square kilometres of territory in southern Ukraine, including 12.6 square kilometres over the past week.
In the Bakhmut sector, the area liberated amounts to 37 square kilometres (2 square kilometres over the past week).
