Construction work to restore Kakhovka HPP after its de-occupation will take about six years.

It is noted that the development of a pilot project for the restoration of the Kakhovka HPP will take two years, and the construction of the plant itself will take about six years.

– At the first stage, it is also planned to design a temporary reservoir dam. “After de-occupation, this will help to quickly start construction of a temporary hydraulic structure to block the reservoir and, in case of flooding, help fill it with water to the required level,” the statement said.

The hydroelectric power plants are currently preparing for the heating season. In particular, the plants are undergoing scheduled repairs and reconstruction of hydropower equipment.

Recently, Ukrhydroenergo CEO Ihor Syrota assured that the rebuilt Kakhovka HPP would be modern and much more powerful than the destroyed one.

The plant is expected to have a capacity of up to 520-580 MW instead of the 340 MW it produced before the destruction.
