Russia will not be able to resume large-scale offensive operations due to the lack of elite infantry – ISW

Due to the lack of elite infantry, the Russian army “almost certainly” will not be able to resume large-scale offensive operations.
Analysts of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) write about this.
It is noted that the Russian military command continues to spend relatively elite Airborne Forces, deploying them to protect vulnerable positions from Ukrainian counterattacks.
Geolocated footage released on August 27 shows that the Russian military command has moved units of the 76th Guards Airborne Assault Division to reinforce Russian positions near Robotynе, probably from the Kreminnа area.
The Institute previously noted that units of almost all Russian units of airborne assault divisions operate in areas where Ukrainian forces conduct counteroffensive operations, and this lateral redeployment further indicates that Russian forces can use relatively elite units to strengthen critical sectors on the front line.
The Russian military command has consistently relied on the formation of airborne forces for both offensive and defensive forces, and they are likely to degrade from the high rate of their activity.
– The degradation of these forces is likely to weaken Russia’s ability to sustain complex defensive operations and will almost certainly derail any Russian intentions to resume large-scale offensive operations that have largely relied on the relatively elite infantry that Russia currently lacks, – the analysts added.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyу said that Ukraine is maximizing the production of shells, guns, drones, missiles and armored vehicles.
