The second package in one day: the US announced another $1 billion in aid for Ukraine

The United States will provide Ukraine with another aid package worth more than $1 billion. It will include both the strengthening of air defense and aid to the civilian population.
This was announced by the head of the US State Department, Antony Blinken, during a joint press conference with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, in Kyiv.
– Today we are announcing a new aid package with a budget of more than $1 billion. It will include $665 million for civil security. In total, since the beginning of the Russian aggression, we have transferred over $43 billion in aid. Since last year, since I was here a year ago, Ukrainian forces have recaptured more than 50% of the occupied territories… These additional funds, which will significantly strengthen air defense in particular, – he said.
Additional over $300 million will be allocated to Ukraine’s needs, such as ensuring law and order in the de-occupied territories.
In addition, $100 million will be allocated to support Ukraine’s long-term military needs.
The head of the State Department also stated that currently Ukraine remains the most mined country in the world, therefore it needs help with demining, but did not specify how much of the allocated funds will be directed to the needs of demining territories.
Before that, the US Ministry of Defense announced the provision of another $175 million aid package to Ukraine. The package included, in particular, depleted uranium ammunition for Abrams tanks.
It should be noted that Antony Blinken arrived in Kyiv on a working visit on September 6. During the day, he honored the memory of defenders of Ukraine who died in the war with Russia. The head of the US State Department also met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyу, the head of the Foreign Ministry Dmytro Kuleba and even visited the capital’s McDonald’s.
