People have been under the rubble since spring: Head of Avdiivka MCA tells about the situation in the city

The number of enemy artillery and rocket attacks in Avdiivka, Donetsk region, has been decreasing for three days. However, the occupiers continue to fire at the positions of our defenders.
This was reported by Vitaliy Barabash, the head of Avdiivka MCA, to Fakty ICTV.
According to him, although the shelling of the positions is not decreasing, the Russians have started to storm less. This is confirmed by our military.
Vitaliy Barabash said that for at least eight months there has not been a single building in the city that has not come under fire. There are houses with varying degrees of damage or destroyed ones that cannot be restored – they need to be rebuilt.
Avdiivka does not have many multi-storey buildings – about 20% of the total housing stock, mostly 5-storey buildings, and there is only one 14-storey building. Compared to Bakhmut, there are much more high-rise buildings there.
There are almost 5,000 private houses in Avdiivka, and only 225 5-story buildings.
As for civilian casualties, four people have been trapped under the rubble since the beginning of the escalation on October 10. It is simply unrealistic to get them out because there are no rescuers in the city. In addition, special equipment must be used there, emphasizes Vitaliy Barabash.
– “Well, the bricks have been dismantled. But when it comes to the floor slabs, you can’t move them easily without special equipment. And it is also impossible to get equipment into the city because the roads are constantly under fire. If the weather permits, they (the Russians) launch Orlans (reconnaissance drones) and see movement. A passenger car can pass quickly, while special vehicles travel slowly, so they are a convenient target for the enemy,” emphasized the head of the MCA.
“In addition, since spring, three people have been trapped under the rubble after Russian air strikes. Unfortunately, there is no help for them, and they decided not to endanger the rescuers, said Vitaliy Barabash.
– “If it is a bit quieter, we will certainly dismantle the rubble to bury the dead in a human way,” said the head of the Avdiivka MCA.
The UK Ministry of Defense intelligence believes that despite a large-scale enemy offensive on Avdiivka, the Russians are unlikely to capture the city in the short term.
