Sandbags and structures for protection. Ukraine is intensively preparing for strikes by the Russian Federation on energy facilities – FT

Ukraine continues to strengthen the stability of its energy infrastructure ahead of winter in order to protect itself from possible attacks by the Russian Federation.
This is reported by the Financial Times.
It is noted that sandbags and structures to protect substations are being installed throughout the country.
Infrastructure elements that do not require ventilation have been moved underground, a person familiar with the effort told the paper.
– Damaged electrical cables can be quickly replaced, but substations and transformers take longer to repair. Finding new and transporting massive structures can take months. Spare parts are stored across the border in allied countries, which makes it possible to order them faster, – the message says.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the country has become “much more prepared” for attacks.
The defense, he said, is not 100% effective, but works 80-90% of the time, especially against drones that deviate from their course or whose debris falls on critical infrastructure after being intercepted.
Shmyhal added that about 40% of Ukrainian electricity infrastructure was destroyed a year ago, but most of this damage has already been repaired.
Earlier, Ukrenergo reported that scheduled power outages in winter would depend on the nature of Russian shelling .
