The breakthrough at Ramstein and the tank coalition: what Ukraine expects from Germany

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriу Melnyk expressed hope that Germany will put an end to the formation of a powerful tank coalition for Ukraine at the meeting of the heads of defense ministries of 50 countries, which will take place today at the US Air Force base in Ramstein.
The Ukrainian diplomat stated this in an interview with the publication of the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland group.
According to him, Ukraine is counting on large-scale additional military assistance, including Leopard 2 battle tanks from Germany.
– From Ramstein, Ukrainians expect a real breakthrough in the supply of state-of-the-art weapons systems. The biggest request will be for Germany not only to stop its strange blocking position regarding Leopard tanks, but also to show real leadership and form a powerful tank coalition for Ukraine,- Melnyk said.
He also made it clear that Kyiv has high hopes for the new German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who will represent Berlin for the first time at Ramstein.
The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyу said in an evening address that a coalition of partners regarding the supply of tanks has already been formed.
According to him, Ukraine is waiting for a decision from only one European capital, this will activate the prepared chains of cooperation.
