– First, to make these deliveries effective… At the same time, we must strengthen Poland’s security,” he explained.

Back in mid-March, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced that Ukraine would receive the first four MiG-29 fighters “in the coming days.” The politician did not mention the total number of planes his country was going to transfer, noting that the remaining MiG-29s were “being serviced and prepared.”

As of early March last year, Polish media reported that the Polish army had 28 of these fighters in service.

Ukraine will also receive MiG-29s from Slovakia. This country has already shipped the first four fighters, with a total of 13 planes to be delivered.

There were reports that Ukraine could receive 33 MiG-29 fighters from Poland and Slovakia.

According to Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, MiG-29s are unlikely to change the situation at the front globally. However, their delivery may push the allies to provide F-16 fighters.
