Turkish President Erdogan extends grain deal for another two months

The so-called grain deal has been extended for another two months, until 18 July. This was announced by Turkish President Recep Erdogan.
The information about the grain deal was confirmed by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov. According to him, almost 70 ships are currently waiting in Turkish territorial waters, and 90% of them are ready to deliver Ukrainian farmers’ products to the world.
Erdogan also assured that Turkey would make every effort to fully implement the agreements.
According to Bloomberg, citing unnamed Turkish officials, Russia has so far agreed to stay in the deal.
The grain initiative was signed by Ukraine, Turkey and the UN on 22 July last year. A separate similar document was signed by Russia. The last time the agreement was extended was in March, but it expires on 18 May.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry recently announced that the Black Sea Grain Initiative could be extended for another two months.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported that Ukraine was receiving conflicting signals about the future of the grain deal: there was a “suspended situation” due to Russia’s manipulations.
