The Prosecutor General’s Office named the probable source of the explosion in Olenivka

The source of the explosion in the colony in the temporarily occupied Olenivka in Donetsk region, as a result of which dozens of Ukrainian prisoners died, was probably a thermobaric munition.

This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office in response to a request by DW.

– Namely – a capsule with a combustible mixture of a thermobaric explosion of flamethrowers – the prosecutors indicate.

This conclusion was reached by the investigation based on the results of the analysis of freely available video recordings, with the participation of specialists on the use of radiation, chemical and biological protection units and units, identification of ammunition and the use of engineering units and units.

We will remind you that on the night of July 29, Russian troops brutally killed dozens of Ukrainian prisoners of war on the territory of the former penal colony in occupied Olenivka. The soldiers of the Azov regiment died, in particular.

Ukraine did not receive official lists of dead and wounded soldiers from the Russian Federation. The Prosecutor General’s Office was initially informed about 40 dead and 130 wounded. Subsequently, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced more than 50 dead.

Bellingcat informed that the enemy was preparing to kill Ukrainian soldiers in Olenivka and dug graves for their burial in advance.
