The Defense Forces are taking measures to ensure reliable coverage of the state border of Ukraine and Kyiv from the northern direction, as the threat of a renewed Russian offensive from the territory of Belarus is growing.

This was announced at a briefing by Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Oleksiy Hromov.

– The threat of the Russian Armed Forces resuming the offensive on the northern front is growing. This time the direction of the offensive may be changed to the west of the Belarusian-Ukrainian border to cut the main logistics arteries supplying weapons and military equipment to Ukraine from partner countries,” he noted.

According to him, this is evidenced by the aggressive rhetoric of the military-political leadership of Russia and Belarus, the preparation of covert mobilization, as well as the deployment of a group of troops of the so-called union state.

Gromov said that in Belarus, the Russian Armed Forces are deploying units at airfields and military infrastructure facilities, including those that are under full control of Russia.

– At the same time, the Republic of Belarus continues to provide its territory for launching ballistic missiles and drones. It has deployed MiG-31 aircraft at its airfields, which can be armed with Kalibr cruise missiles. We are also responding to this, – added the representative of the General Staff.

However, he assured that Ukraine is ready for a repeated Russian offensive from the territory of Belarus.

– In case the enemy decides to open the so-called second front, namely to conduct offensive actions from the Republic of Belarus, we will be ready for an appropriate response, – Hromov summed up.

In early October, Lieutenant General and Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Nayev said that a repeated attack on Kyiv from the territory of Belarus is possible, but it will take approximately 2-3 months to form the appropriate forces.
