They flew to a hot spot: what is known about the fall of the helicopter with the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

On the morning of January 18, in Brovary, Kyiv region, a helicopter of the State Emergency Service with the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on board, which was headed for a hot spot, fell on a kindergarten.

Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrskyi, First Deputy Minister Yevhen Yenin and State Secretary Yuriу Lubkovich, three of their assistants and three members of the crew of the State Emergency Service were killed.

The plane crash took the lives, in particular, of three children.

Updated at 1:28 p.m. The total number of dead in Brovary on January 18 reached 16.

30 victims, including 12 minors, were hospitalized.

Some of them are in intensive care.

After the helicopter crash, the children were immediately evacuated from the kindergarten and moved to another room, where they could be counted and handed over to their relatives.

There is no information about the missing children yet, as the identification of persons is still ongoing.

In these minutes, rescuers are sorting out the debris.

– God forbid that none of the children and adults were there. We are working quickly to get the ceilings that fell in the kindergarten in one of the sections, – Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Tymoshenko said during the briefing.

Information about the explosion near the kindergarten in Brovary after the flight of aircraft appeared after eight in the morning on January 18.

Ambulances immediately rushed to the site of the explosion in Brovary.

After that, reports of the rotorcraft falling began to arrive.

Some time later, this information was confirmed and it was reported that the Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrskyi, First Deputy Minister Yevhen Yenin and State Secretary Yuriy Lubkovich, three more representatives of the operational group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and three crew members of the State Emergency Service were on board.

According to the State Emergency Service, the ES-225 helicopter with flight number 54 crashed at 08:20.

As a result, the building of the preschool educational institution was destroyed and caught fire.

At 09:06 a fire broke out in a building with an area of 500 square meters were localized, and at 09:28 – liquidated.
