Ukraine needs more modern aviation: Reznikov names MiG-29’s disadvantage over Russian Su-35

The MiG-29 fighters provided by Slovakia and Poland are strengthening the Ukrainian Air Force. However, these aircraft are inferior to Russian Su-35s in a number of respects.
This was stated by Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov in an interview with the Estonian public broadcaster ERR.
He emphasized that our country needs more modern aircraft, such as Falcon or Gripen.
– The MiG-29 with its radar systems has a range of only 60 kilometers and a firing range of only 30 kilometers. For example, modern Russian aircraft, such as Su-35 fighters, have a radar range of more than 200 kilometers and a firing range of more than 100 kilometers. Therefore, we need modern fighters for Ukraine to become part of our air defense systems,” Reznikov said.
According to the minister, Ukraine continues negotiations with partners on training Ukrainian pilots on Western combat aircraft.
– We remain optimistic and are trying to talk to our partners about the fact that pilot training should start now, because it takes time. Similarly, time was spent on artillery systems and multiple launch rocket systems, tanks and air defense systems such as NASAMS, Patriot and others,” Reznikov noted.
Reznikov also said that Ukraine is currently preparing for a spring counteroffensive.
It should begin in April-May. The timing of the offensive is also linked to weather conditions.
