Fleeing from a counteroffensive: kilometer-long traffic jams formed at the exit from Donetsk region to the Russian Federation

At the border from the occupied Donetsk region to Russia, a long line of cars was seen fleeing, probably due to the expectation of a Ukrainian counteroffensive.
Petro Andriyshchenko, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, told about it.
According to him, during May 11, one could see a “ten-kilometer queue” of those willing to flee from occupied Donetsk and beyond.
Andriyshchenko indicated that a long line had formed at the exit to Russia near Novoazovsk, which is the closest settlement to the Russian border in the south of the Donetsk region.
– Nothing special. There is no panic, – commented Andriyshchenko ironically.
It is noteworthy that huge queues are also discussed in chat rooms in Novoazovsk, where they discuss the work of the checkpoint on the territory of Russia. In the chats, they write that the queue for departure is “very long” and that “hasn’t happened in a long time”.
Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in Skadovsk, Kherson region, the occupiers are curtailing the activities of “district and city administrations” and fleeing from the temporarily occupied city.
In addition, the occupiers announced evacuation in a number of settlements of the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region. The General Staff reported on attempts by the Russians to take Ukrainian children away with their parents.
In particular, the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, said that representatives of the occupation administrations in the city took indefinite leave, and the occupiers themselves hurriedly left the city, taking their equipment with them.
According to Fedorov, during the past week, the Russians tried to evacuate Ukrainian civilians from more than 18 cities and towns of Ukraine, which are temporarily under the control of the enemy.
