The United States did not help Ukraine choose a target and was not involved in the strikes by Ukrainian forces on the Chongar bridge connecting Russian-occupied Crimea with mainland Ukraine.
This was stated at the briefing by the spokesman of the US Ministry of Defense, Patrick Ryder.
– This is Ukraine’s struggle. They plan and conduct this battle. We are focused on working with them, our allies and our partners to make sure they have the warfighting capabilities they need to defend their country and reclaim sovereign territory, – Ryder said.
We will remind you that on the night of June 22 there was an explosion on the Chongar Bridge. Propagandists report that the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit the bridge with a Storm Shadow missile.
The first deputy chairman of the Kherson Regional Council said that the damage to the bridge in Chongar is, first of all, a blow to Russian military logistics. Secondly, the attack on the bridge is a psychological effect on the occupying power and the Russian military. They understand that there is no place on the territory of the Kherson region where they could feel safe.
