No need to be overly excited! The foundation of the Crimean bridge, the railway, was not damaged – expert

Military expert Petro Chernyk believes that Crimea is now “probably the most powerful military foothold in the world”. He noted that Crimea’s cover is more powerful than Moscow’s.
Chernyk said this on the air of the Yedynye Novosti telethon.
He jokingly said that the organisers of this operation were very bright “alien forces” who decided to fight on the side of Ukraine.
– “The fact that some mysterious devices reached their goal and caused such damage to the bridge is a very good step forward,” he said.
According to him, there is no need to be overly excited about another hit on the bridge illegally built by Russia, as the main structure of the bridge – the railway bridge – was not damaged.
– In fact, the most serious artery is still the railway bridge, because heavy echelons carrying ammunition and everything else go through it. And hitting such a bridge is like hitting a thread. This is a rather difficult task, but steps will be taken in this direction. I share the view of the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine that it (the Crimean Bridge – Ed.) is unnecessary there,” Chernyk said.
When asked what weapons could have been used to hit the bridge on 17 July, he said that most likely, marine-class vessels, which can carry up to 200 kg of explosives, were used, although cruise missiles are also available for such strikes.
He added that it is important that the frequency of “submerging” this bridge increases, as it is quite long – up to 18 km.
According to him, this strike will not have a significant impact on the frontline for now, as it would require the bridge across the Kerch Strait to be completely submerged, and the enemy has not been able to fix it for several months.
On the night of 17 July, at least two spans of the Crimean bridge collapsed. This led to huge traffic jams and the suspension of railway traffic.
A video of what is likely to have been an explosion on the Crimean Bridge that night has already been posted online. In addition, the first photos of the damage have been published.
