Head of Delegation to PACE: Ukraine’s Register of Damages to be launched in The Hague this summer

The International Register of Damage Caused by Russian Aggression to Ukraine, which is mentioned in the PACE resolution Political Consequences of Russia’s Aggression against Ukraine, is likely to be launched this summer.
This opinion was expressed by the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, MP Maria Mezentseva, in an interview with Ukrinform.
– “More than 40 countries and all G7 countries are already signatories to the document on its creation. We expect the register to start operating this summer in The Hague. The office is ready to work,” she stressed.
On 17 May, the participants of the Council of Europe Summit in Reykjavik, Iceland, signed a political declaration on the establishment of a register of damages caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
The Register of Damages will be based in the Netherlands with a branch in Kyiv. It will record evidence of Russian attacks, as well as claims for compensation.
The Ministry of Justice has previously explained that it is not only about compensation for material damage, but also for damage to human life and health and the environment.
A digital IT platform will be created within the register, as a large number of applications are expected.
