Another 160 Ukrainian citizens were evacuated from the Gaza Strip during the past day.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyу.

Nine citizens of Moldova are among the rescued.

– During the past day, Ukraine evacuated another 160 of its citizens and 9 citizens of Moldova from Gaza, – the head of state noted.

A total of 203 Ukrainian citizens were rescued from the Gaza Strip this week.

“Ukraine stands up for the protection of civilian lives and cares for each of its citizens, no matter where they are,” Zelenskyу emphasized.

Evacuation from the Gaza Strip: what is known

On October 7, Hamas militants launched a massive rocket attack on Israel and broke into the country’s territory from the Gaza Strip .

Israel responded by declaring a state of war and began striking Hamas targets in Gaza. Subsequently, the Israeli army launched a ground operation.

Against this background, hundreds of Ukrainian citizens expressed their desire to evacuate from the Gaza Strip. There are many women and children among them. However, this possibility was blocked for a long time.

On November 7, the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel reported that the first group of Ukrainians (101 people) received permission to evacuate from Gaza. In the evening of the same day, the first group of Ukrainian citizens (20 people) was released through the checkpoint with Egypt.

On November 8, Volodymyr Zelenskyу announced that Ukraine had successfully evacuated 43 Ukrainians from the Gaza Strip.
