Propaganda of the Russian Federation lies about Soledar in order to support the mobilization – Zelenskyy
Propagandists from the Russian Federation are trying to support the mobilization in Russia by lying about the capture of Soledar (Donetsk region) and passing it off as an achievement of the occupying army.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during the evening address following the results of January 11.
According to him, Russian propaganda is trying to present Soledar, which was destroyed by Russia, as some kind of gain.
– They will present it to their society in such a way as to support mobilization, to give hope to those who are in favor of aggression. But the fighting continues, the Donetsk direction is being held, and we are doing everything without a break, even for one day, to strengthen the Ukrainian defense. Our potential is growing, – he said.
The Ukrainian leader also added that Poland’s decision to transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine could bring the potential of the Armed Forces to a new level.
The situation in Soledar
The day before, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of Wagner’s PMC, published a statement in the Russian media that Soledar was completely under the control of his mercenaries, and the city was surrounded.
However, Ukrainian fighters from the 46th brigade, who are heroically holding the city, denied being surrounded by the Wagnerites in Soledar.
In turn, the advisor of the Office of the President, Oleksiy Arestovych, said that Soledar was not surrounded. According to him, the city is now “semi-captured”, and the Armed Forces hold the west and north of the city. He added that the road leading to Soledar from the south is under fire control of the occupiers.
Already on January 11, a soldier from the 46th brigade, which protects Soledar, said that the situation in the city is very difficult. According to him, positions are constantly occupied and reoccupied, and no one can say for sure who controls what.
