Sweden will provide over $400 million in military aid to Ukraine

The Swedish Parliament (Riksdag) supported the government’s proposal to introduce amendments to the state budget, which provide for an increase in military aid to Ukraine by SEK 4.3 billion (about $406.7 million).
This is stated in a message on the website of the Riksdag.
– Military equipment will be transferred to Ukraine, without which the Armed Forces of Sweden can do for a limited period. The package includes anti-tank weapons, demining equipment, Robot 57 light anti-tank weapons and (infantry combat vehicles, – Ed.) CV90, with a maximum cost of SEK 4.3 billion, – the report said.
The legislative changes will enter into force in Sweden on February 13, 2023.
The Swedish government announced military aid to Ukraine on January 19. The message concerned, in particular, the supply of Archer self-propelled artillery installations to Ukraine.
In turn, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that Sweden intends to transfer about 50 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles.
In early February, Bloomberg reported that Sweden and Germany were negotiating for Stockholm to transfer air defense missiles and launchers for the German IRIS-T systems to Ukraine.
In addition, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson said that his country is considering the possibility of supplying its Stridsvagn 122 tanks, which are a modification of the German Leopard 2, to Ukraine.
