There is evidence of controlled remote detonation of Kakhovka HPP by occupants – GUR

The Ukrainian side has evidence that the Russian occupiers remotely blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.
This was reported by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, on the We Are Ukraine YouTube channel.
According to him, Ukraine has repeatedly reported the facts of the movement of explosives and relevant equipment by Russians.
Currently, the Ukrainian side only needs to assess the power of the explosions and calculate how much explosives were used.
Ukrainian intelligence observed how the occupiers mined the dam’s pillars and monitored information about the movement of explosives, in particular, to the engine room and other facilities under the control of Russian terrorists.
Andriy Yusov reminds that back in October, both the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the military and political leadership of the state informed the world that the occupiers had deliberately mined the Kakhovka dam.
– This shows that the Russians’ actions were not spontaneous but planned. Today’s terrorist attack is a deliberate act of terrorism, an act of ecocide and a continuation of the genocidal war against Ukrainians,” Andriy Yusov emphasises.
By blowing up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, the Russians are pursuing several criminal goals.
First of all, it is to obstruct the actions of the Ukrainian Security and Defence Forces in the South of Ukraine.
In addition, it is a continuation of the nuclear blackmail policy, as the explosion raises the issue of the nuclear threat at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, whose safety directly depends on the Kakhovka storage facility.
Another task of the Russians is to disperse and cause the resettlement of the Ukrainian civilian population in the Kherson region.
And, of course, this is the scorched earth practice of the “horde policy”. By such actions, the occupiers are trying to signal to the Ukrainian Security and Defence Forces and Ukrainian society that either they will remain in the occupied territories or there will be only ruins.
However, the representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine adds that Russia’s blackmail will not achieve its results.
– “These are crimes that will have to be answered for and will be important evidence at an international tribunal against Putin, his henchmen and his entire criminal regime,” assures Andriy Yusov.
It should be noted that at around 02:30 on 6 June, the Russian occupiers blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.
According to Ukrhydroenergo, the explosion occurred from inside the engine room.
As a result, Kakhovka HPP was completely destroyed. The plant is beyond repair.
Due to the explosion, the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir is rapidly decreasing, which is an additional threat to the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP.
