UAH 20 billion has been allocated for defense structures in 2024 – Shmyhal
Since the beginning of the year, UAH 20 billion has been allocated from the reserve fund of the state budget for fortifications and the construction of defense lines. Additional resources from other sources – almost 11 billion hryvnias.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a press conference.
Fortification and defensive lines in 2024
– The government allocated more than UAH 20 billion from the state budget already this year for the creation of fortifications and the construction of defense lines. The corresponding headquarters works in daily mode. We also coordinate work with regional administrations, the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense, – he emphasized.
In particular, according to him, the Ministry of Defense received 3 billion UAH, and more than 16 billion UAH – regional military administrations: 4 billion – Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, 1.8 billion UAH – Sumy, 1.5 billion UAH each – Volyn, Odesa, Zaporizhzhіa and Kherson – UAH 1.3 billion, Donetsk – UAH 1.2 billion, and Kyiv – UAH 1.1 billion.
– These funds will be used to create high-quality, preferably concrete fortification systems and engineering non-explosive barriers, – he specified.
At the end of the year, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution that expanded the list of state bodies that can purchase goods, works and services for the construction of military engineering and fortification facilities.
Until now, this function was performed by the Regional Military Administrations. From now on, customers will also be able to be the Ministry of Defense, the State Special Transport Service and the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure.
