To restore security in Europe and around the world, the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea must be freed from Russian occupation.

This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the second summit of the Crimean Platform.

The head of state quoted the letter of the Crimean Tatar politician Nariman Dzhelal, imprisoned by the occupiers, that “it has begun with Crimea, and it will end with Crimea.”

Watching now

– And this is true, I believe in it one hundred percent. In order to overcome terror, to return predictability and security to our region, Europe, and the whole world, it is necessary to win the fight against Russian aggression. Therefore, it is necessary to liberate Crimea from occupation. It will end where it started. And this will be an effective resuscitation of the international legal order, – Zelenskyy emphasized.

He reminded that it is not just about politics, but about specific land, cities, people, culture.

– I know that Crimea is with Ukraine and is waiting for us to return. I want you all to know: we will definitely be back. When we return and correct everything that the occupiers did on our Ukrainian peninsula. What came to Crimea and the entire Black Sea region together with Russian aggression, together with Russian weapons, – the president added.

He informed that Russia provoked catastrophic threats to ecology, unprecedented destruction of nature, social life, economic decline, destruction of monuments, militarization in Crimea. And the Russian fleet blockaded ports on the Black Sea and provoked a global food crisis.

Zelenskyy clarified that Ukraine sees a perspective for Crimea, and also intends to restore justice for all those who suffered from the repressions and persecutions of the Russian Federation.

– The degradation of Russia began with the seizure of Crimea, with terror against the Crimean Tatar people, the indigenous people of Crimea, with repressions that became almost the largest religious persecution in Europe in the 21st century against the Crimean Muslim community. There were expulsions from occupied Crimea of all ordinary people who said that Crimea is Ukraine, who were not afraid to defend Ukrainian culture and freedom in Crimea. Murders, torture, humiliation, looting – all this the occupiers did and continue to do in Crimea since the first weeks of its shameful occupation, – said the head of state.

He emphasized that Russia stole the lives of even those residents of Crimea who were lucky enough not to become victims of repression.
