If Russian dictator Vladimir Putin realizes that he will lose his entire army in Ukraine, he will withdraw his troops.
This was stated by retired US lieutenant general Keith Kellogg, Voice of America writes.
In his opinion, the Kremlin’s aggression against Ukraine became possible because he believed in the weakness of the West and the USA after the “defeat in Afghanistan” and the lack of reaction to the seizure of Crimea in 2014.
– Now the West is sending aid to Ukraine gradually and intermittently, which again gives hope to Putin that he will be able to bide his time and thus win. But hesitancy and partial measures will not lead to victory, they make it possible to wage war, but not to end it, – he emphasized.
According to the retired general, if leadership is not shown now, there is a risk of being bogged down in yet another endless war.
– Ukraine must be provided with all the weapons that its army needs, because Putin must understand that the fate of his army in Ukraine is under threat of almost complete destruction. If Putin realizes that he will lose his entire army in Ukraine, he will withdraw the troops, – Kellogg emphasized.
He added that the West needs a clear plan. And simply saying “whatever is needed, as much as needed” will not work.
Earlier, the US stated that it had not found any evidence that the weapons that were supplied to Ukraine were found outside of Ukraine.
