The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, addressed the politicians and people of Indonesia, speaking at the Indonesian analytical centre Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia.

He noted that the world is currently on the brink of several crises. Volodymyr Zelenskyi reminded that Ukraine is the largest exporter of food – every year, we supply tens of millions of tons of grain and other agricultural products to different countries.

But for the fourth month in a row, Ukrainian exports have been blocked due to Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. Russia has blocked access to our ports on the Black Sea and occupied our part of the Azov Sea shore.

Watching now

– Currently, 22 million tons of grain in Ukraine are in storage. We cannot direct them to the world market, where they are needed right now. It is already felt that the grain prices, and later for other food, can grow catastrophically, – the head of state explained.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that, according to the estimates of the UN, this year, the world’s hunger will additionally affect about 40-50 million people. However, he accented that hunger does not come alone.

It is always accompanied by political chaos, which further aggravates the situation, destroys social life, and creates even more dangerous conditions for ordinary people.

Therefore, according to the President, already in July, when many countries will run out of last year’s harvest, it will become clear that the catastrophe is really approaching.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi also stressed that Ukraine seeks to prevent a food crisis and is working to shift its exports to new routes, including rail. But Russia is trying to thwart these attempts by hitting the railway infrastructure.

The President added that the sooner a full-scale war can be ended, the better it will be for each nation. The sooner our ports are unblocked, the sooner the development of the food crisis, on which Russia has relied, will stop.

And the sooner Ukrainian lands are liberated from the occupiers, the more reliably people everywhere in the world will be protected. Protected from the aggressive desires of those who want to pursue colonial policies as in the old days.
