The Ukrainian grain corridor actually reached its pre-war capacity – Pletenchuk

The work of the Ukrainian grain corridor actually reached its capacity before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. 500 ships have already passed through it.
This was stated by the spokesman of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, on the air of the telethon .
– The vast majority of cargo is grain, which is in short supply in the so-called Global South. And as for the grain corridor of work, it actually reached its capacity before a full-scale invasion. We have already crossed the limit of 500 ships and more than 10 million tons of cargo, – he said.
According to Pletenchuk, it is difficult to say that the grain agreement is an alternative to the Ukrainian corridor, because “the number of cargoes speaks for itself.”
The spokesman of the Navy also noted that Ukraine is carrying out demining in the Black Sea “to the extent possible”, but so far there is no possibility of conducting a large-scale operation.
Grain corridor in the Black Sea
On July 22, 2022, the Black Sea Grain Initiative was signed, within which Ukrainian agricultural products were exported through the corresponding sea corridor. Ukraine signed an agreement with Turkey and the UN.
The Russian Federation concluded a similar separate document. However, the aggressor constantly blocked the operation of the grain corridor, and after July 17, 2023, the Russian Federation withdrew from the initiative.
Ukraine responded by launching new temporary sea routes for civilian vessels in the Black Sea. Now ships are heading to Ukrainian ports through this new grain corridor to load grain and other products.
