The Russian military is divided on how best to counter a counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as the Russian army finds itself on the defensive in both the east and the south.

This is reported by the CNN channel.

According to two US and Western intelligence sources, Russian President Vladimir Putin is giving instructions to the generals. This is a rather unusual tactic for a modern army, which speaks of an ineffective command structure in the Russian Federation from the very beginning.

Western intelligence managed to intercept telephone conversations of Russian officers arguing among themselves and complaining to friends and relatives about the decisions made by Moscow.

And there are serious disagreements with military leaders about strategy and where to focus their efforts to strengthen the defensive lines.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that it is transferring forces to the Kharkiv region, where the Armed Forces have achieved the greatest success. But US and Western intelligence sources say the bulk of Russian forces are still in the south, where Ukraine has also launched a counteroffensive.

Military analysts believe that Putin’s order for partial mobilization is a direct admission that the “special military operation” has not worked and needs to be adjusted.

Representatives of the White House said that Putin’s announcement of mobilization only emphasizes the acute shortage of personnel in the Russian army and signals despair.

According to Russian military analysts, it is unclear whether the mobilization will have any operational significance on the battlefield or simply prolong the war.
