SSU confirms the identity of a serviceman shot by Russians after the slogan “Glory to Ukraine”

The sniper of the 163rd battalion of the 119th separate brigade of the Chernihiv region, Oleksandr Ihorovych Matsiyevskyi, is a soldier shot by the Russian occupiers after saying Glory to Ukraine.
Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed this.
Oleksandr Matsievskyi was called up for military service in March 2022. He had been missing near the village of Krasna Hora in Donetsk Oblast since late December. The SBU established that Matsievskyi was shot dead on December 30, 2022. His body was returned home in February 2023.
Investigators identified the deceased after a series of investigative actions, including communication with the family and colleagues of the dead and the processing of photos and video materials.

The SSU also received the conclusion of a forensic portrait examination, which confirmed that the soldier in the video was Oleksandr Matsiyevsky.
– This is a true Hero who, even when facing death, demonstrated to the whole world what Ukrainian character and invincibility are. These defenders are defending our land today, meaning the enemy will be defeated.
Because Ukraine’s great victory is made up of the heroic deeds of people like Oleksandr Matsiyevsky. Glory to the hero! Glory to the heroes! Glory to Ukraine!” said the Head of the SSU, Vasyl Malyuk.
He added that the special service works to identify the occupiers who committed this bloody crime.
The SSU is taking comprehensive measures to identify the Russian servicemen who committed this crime. The pre-trial investigation is conducted under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war). The operation is being conducted under the procedural supervision of the General Prosecutor’s Office.
On March 6, a video of the shooting of a Ukrainian prisoner of war who said “Glory to Ukraine!” to the murderers’ eyes appeared on social media.
After the video was published, the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade, named after Prince Kostiantyn Ostrozky, claimed it was their fighter Tymofiy Shadura. He had been missing since February 3, 2023, after fighting near Bakhmut.
However, according to the TRO North forces regional directorate, the executed soldier is Oleksandr Matsievskyi, a fighter with the 163rd battalion of the 119th separate brigade of the TRO in the Chernihiv region.
